Grease bottom and sides of pan (2 round or 1 9X13) Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Beat butter for 30 seconds or so. Slowly add sugar. Add room temperature eggs 1 at a time beating after each one. Beat in vanilla. Add dry ingredients, beating after each addition. Add 1/2 the milk, beat. Then add the rest and beat until everything is combined well. Spread batter into pans, making them about 2/3 full. You may have some extra batter (make a few cupcakes)
Bake for 30-35 minutes for round cake pans. 5 minutes longer for 9×13 pan. Keep a check on it. Increase or decrease baking time as needed. toothpick inserted should come out clean.
